Alonso hints at Real Madrid exit with Liverpool waiting 0

Posted on April 22, 2013 by admin

The Spanish international midfielder Xabi Alonso has a contract with Real Madrid until next summer, but it is far from certain whether he will complete it. The 31-year old may be waiting to see what happens at the club in the summer, which itself could depend on the outcome of the remaining games this season.

Alonso spent five seasons in the English Premier League with Liverpool and it has been suggested that he could return there to finish his career. He was, apparently, happy at the club and only left after his relationship with Rafa Benitez, who was the manager at the time, deteriorated following his decision to miss a game to attend the birth of his first child. There are also reports that Benitez could be re-appointed as Liverpool manager and that may also have some bearing on Alonso’s decision.

Since he joined Real Madrid from Liverpool in 2009, the Spanish international midfielder Xabi Alonso has been a mainstay at the heart of Madrid’s midfield. He has a fantastic attitude and work rate, along with the ability to make deadly accurate passes anywhere on the pitch as well as controlling the game from his deep lying position. At 31-years old, Alonso has a good few years left in him, but Real Madrid are already on the lookout for a player that might be able to fill his boots.

Jose Mourinho and his Real Madrid players are not expecting any miracles in La Liga. With 15 league games left, Barcelona are 16 points ahead and so Madrid have given up on retaining the title. All of their effort will now be concentrated on the Champions league and the Copa Del Rey.

With the visit of Manchester United to the Bernabeu on Wednesday firmly in mind, Mourinho has not included Xabi Alonso, Varane, Marcelo and Di Maria in the squad. These players are not really injured but have small niggles that Mourinho does not want to risk aggravating.

Modric WILL settle at Real Madrid in time says Alonso 0

Real Madrid chased Luka Modric from Tottenham for a long time before finally getting their man this summer. He was not cheap, costing around £33 million, but was expected to be an instant success and help Madrid to retain the Spanish league title. Well it hasn’t worked out so far, but his team mate, Xabi Alonso, has backed him to come good as long as he is given a little more time to settle in at the club.

“I don’t think it’s pressure. He plays in a position where we have several players and he’s adapting to a new club and a new league. It took me a while to adapt on my return to La Liga.

Despite playing a strong side, Jose Mourinho had to watch his Real Madrid team play second fiddle to a skilful and hard working Celta Vigo in the Spanish version of the FA cup, the Copa Del Rey, last night. As the rain fell in Vigo, so did the spirits of the Madrid players and fans. It could have been much worse for them, but a late goal from Ronaldo and the prospect of a second leg at the Bernabeu averted complete disaster.

Mourinho must do without Alonso for Real Madrid vs. Real Zaragoza 0

The 30-year old midfield general, Xabi Alonso, played his 100th competitive game for Real Madrid in September and he has become one of the most reliable players at the club, if not the world. He also played his 100th game for the Spanish national side during Euro 2012. He marked that event with both goals as Spain beat France in the quarter finals, on their way to lifting the trophy again.

Jose Mourinho will have to shuffle his playing pack tomorrow, however, as Alonso is suspended for the game due to collecting his fifth yellow card in this La Liga season. Alonso has always been combative but does not normally get booked quite so often.

Malaga snatch a late point against Real Madrid 0

Real Madrid dropped two points last night against a well organised Malaga. Cazorla scored the equalizer in the 91st minute, leaving Madrid no time to rally. Real`s lead at the top of La Liga hasn been cut to eight points but we should not worry yet. In truth Real should have secured all three points but circumstances were against them.

The Whites should have had at least one penalty, the most clear case coming in the 82nd minute with a clear foul on Marcelo. The referee, despite being only three metres from the incident failed to spot the foul and Malaga got a lucky escape. Ronaldo also could have won a penalty but it was less clear and may have been a harsh award, looking more like a collision than a foul.

Christiano Ronaldo scores a wonder goal in more ways than one 0

Real Madrid`s number 7 scored another hat-trick on Sunday, which was notable for a few reasons. The third goal was of the highest quality and was picked up and replayed all over the world. He came in from the left wing, dropped his shoulder to get a yard of space, then hit a powerful looping shot which two keepers couldn`t have saved. It was a goal that any player would be proud of.
It was also, incidentally goal number four thousand scored by Real Madrid at the Bernabeu stadium. It is fitting that Christiano scored this landmark goal as he is Real Madrid`s talisman at the moment, and his namesake Ronaldo was the scorer of goal 3500.
The first goal was scored by Chus Alonso on DEcember 28th 1947 in a 5-1 win against Athletic.
Christiano`s scoring rate is going from strenghth to strength, indeed he is on course to score over a goal per game if he continues his season as he has. Currently standing at 34 goals from 33 matches, he has improved his rate from last season which saw him notch 53 from 54.
The final statistic that draws attention is that his hat-trick took his total number of goals scored for Real Madrid past the number he registered for Manchester United. Having scored 118 goals in 292 matches for the Red Devils, Ronaldo has now scored a whopping 120 in only 122 games for the Whites, truly amazing
