Benzema can play for Real Madrid against Espanyol 0

Posted on December 16, 2012 by admin

Jose Mourinho got a great boost today as his Real Madrid prepare to host Espanyol, hoping to cut the gap to the Primera Liga leaders Barcelona to eight points. It had looked like Mourinho would be without his two main strikers again, and was struggling with the decision whether to play Christiano Ronaldo down the middle again or give a start to the young reserve striker Alvaro Morata.

The French international, Karim Benzema, injured his ankle in the midweek cup game at Celta Vigo, and it was announced that only a miracle would allow him to play today. Mourinho must have been praying hard, then, as Benzema is in the squad and will probably start. The Argentinean front man Gonzalo Higuain is still a long term injury absence from Madrid.

Real Madrid close in on Falcao transfer 0

Posted on December 11, 2012 by admin

It is unusual for Real Madrid to sign a player directly from their city rivals, Athletico Madrid, but media reports suggest that it is going to happen with the superstar Colombian striker Radamel Falcao. Athletico have managed to hold on to their player so far, but they expect to come under renewed pressure when the transfer window opens again in January.

Premier league clubs Chelsea and Manchester City were thought to be front runners for the 26-year old hitman, but Real Madrid are planning to step in with a £45 million offer. Relations between the clubs’ staff is pretty good since Jose Mourinho took over, and there is a feeling in Spain that the deal could be done.

The transfer of Falcao could spell the end of Benzema at Real Madrid 0

Jose Mourinho told reporters last week that Real Madrid were `forbidden` from talking about the Athletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao, but many believe that the two clubs are talking in private and Falcao could soon join Mourinho’s team.

Athletico are resigned to losing their star sooner or later and need the money that his transfer will deliver. The Colombian striker’s father revealed that Falcao has always dreamed of playing for Real Madrid, and Mourinho believes that his goals will help the Spanish champions to retain their title from Barcelona.

Real Madrid lose both left backs Marcelo and Coentrao due to internationals 0

Jose Mourinho has a serious problem to deal with after both of his left backs for Real Madrid picked up injuries during their international games. Three other players have picked up knocks but it is the left side of defence that is going to be a problem for up to three months.

Marcelo played for Brazil in their friendly against Iraq and was training for the game against Japan yesterday when he broke the fifth metatarsal in his right foot. Doctors predict that he will miss around three months with his recovery. That will take us up to the January transfer window but there is no chance of replacing him before then.

Ronaldo leads Real Madrid back to winning ways 0

Christiano Ronaldo has now scored forty league goals after a thunderous double against Athletico Madrid. Madrid`s portugese number seven unleashed an unstoppable free kick to open the scoring. Athletico`s keeper, Coutois, looked bemused as Ronaldo`s shot changed direction in the air and sailed past him into the net.

Real Madrid`s nerves were jangling again when Falcao powered in a header to equalise soon after. Cometh the hour, cometh the man and it was Ronaldo again who sent Real back on the road to victory with a solo effort from way outside the penalty area. It was a similiar strike to the first, curling one way then the other and also dipping furiously to confound the keeper again.
