NOW is the time to back Real Madrid after Super Cup defeat 0

Posted on August 23, 2014 by admin

Before the Spanish La Liga season has even started, quite a few football pundits are writing off the chances of Real Madrid finishing top of the table next May. And following their defeat to the reigning champions Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup, you may never get such good odds on Carlo Ancelotti leading his players to the title.

With Barcelona having spent well on a few key players and with a new man at the helm, the Catalans are expected to be a real force again this season. No matter what you think of Luis Suarez and his wayward teeth, there is no doubt that the Uruguay international striker is a top player who can make a big difference.

Monaco to hurt Real Madrid again with Ronaldo bid 0

I think that Real Madrid and Florentino Perez will soon start to dread the very word Monaco, because the newly promoted French Ligue 1 side seem determined to wreck all of Madrid’s transfer business this summer. They have already poached the club’s main transfer target and now they want our best player.

The football world was stunned when it was announced last month that the Atletico Madrid and Colombia international striker Radamel Falcao had agreed to snub Europe’s biggest clubs, including Real, and join the relatively small and recently struggling outfit Monaco. They have a new Russian owner, though, who just happens to be a multi billionaire, while their tax laws mean that the players get to keep almost all of their wages.

Real Madrid on alert as Suarez hints at Liverpool exit 0

One of the Real Madrid transfer targets has given the club all the encouragement it needs to push on with the pursuit. Luis Suarez, the Liverpool and Uruguay striker, has been speaking about his treatment from the English press and suggested that this may force him to leave Anfield and the English Premier League altogether.

Suarez has been vilified by the media in England, sometimes rightly, for his behaviour. His latest transgression was to bite the arm of the Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic. It was undoubtedly a bad thing to do, but Suarez and many others feel the 10 game ban handed down by the football authorities was completely over the top and was fuelled by the press coverage.

Bale’s agent offers Real Madrid some transfer encouragement 0

After losing out on a couple of transfer targets already this summer, Real Madrid and the current president Florentino Perez is more determined than ever to make sure that Gareth Bale will be playing his home games at the Bernabeu next season. That is easier said than done, however, as Tottenham Hotspur are desperate to keep him, while the chairman Daniel Levy is a tough negotiator who Madrid have struggled with before.

Courtois and woodwork deny Real as Atletico snatch cup final 0

It could not have got much worse for Real Madrid last night, as Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo were both sent off and Real were beaten by their fierce city rivals Atletico. The fact that the Copa Del rey final was held at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium only increased the misery.

Ronaldo, who else, had given Real an early lead, but Atletico were tough and organised and it was their main star, Radamel Falcao that brought his team back into it. The Colombian used all his strength and guile to hold off two Real players and then produced a perfect pass to Diego Costa. Lopez got his hand to Costa’s shot but only tipped it onto the post and in.

Atletico believe they can upset Real Madrid in cup final 0

The Spanish cup final tonight is the last chance for Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho to finish the season in a positive way and they are favourites to do so. Tonight’s opponents and fierce city rivals Atletico Madrid are determined to spoil that, however, and their Argentinean coach Diego Simeone has got his players believing.

Atletico have not lost many games this season, especially at home, but they have lost both La Liga games against Real. Despite this, and the fact that tonight’s final is at the Bernabeu, Simeone knows that anything can happen in a one-off match.

Real Madrid huge favourites for Spanish cup despite problems 0

Posted on May 16, 2013 by admin

There seems to be all sorts of things going on at Real Madrid at the minute, with different rumours every day about Mourinho, the players and who will go, who will stay and who could be coming to join them. Despite this and the selection problems caused by injury and disagreements between coach and players, Real Madrid are still seen as nailed on favourites to win the Copa Del Rey final on Friday night.

Real Madrid fans want Pepe to replace Varane for cup final 0

The question for Jose Mourinho to answer is whether he really wants to leave Real Madrid having just won the Copa Del Rey, or is it more important to him to assert his authority. We will know on Friday when Real Madrid and their city rivals Atletico run out onto the Bernabeu pitch for the Spanish cup final.

Mourinho publicly slammed his Portuguese central defender Pepe after Pepe said that Iker Casillas deserved more respect than he was getting. Mourinho replied by saying that Pepe was only upset because he had lost his place to the 20-year old French defender Rafael Varane.

Atletico have clause to prevent Falcao joining Real Madrid 0

There have been lots of rumours about the Colombian striker Radamel Falcao and which club he might transfer to in the summer. Real Madrid are understandably keen to sign the prolific hit man, but it appears that they would have to pay their local city rivals much more than any other club to do so.

AS has reported that Atletico Madrid have put a clause into Falcao’s contract that means he would cost their city rivals Real €75 million, whereas any other club would only pay €60 million. Whether this will put Real Madrid off or not is unclear, but it does make it less likely.

Mourinho and Ronaldo miss out on Ballon D’Or 0

Real Madrid were well represented at the award gala for the FIFA Ballon D’Or yesterday. Jose Mourinho was nominated for best coach, along with Vicente Del Bosque of the Spain national team, and Pep Guardiola of Barcelona. Christiano Ronaldo was up for the main award of best player along with Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta of Barcelona, but Mourinho and Ronaldo were overlooked, as Messi won again and Del Bosque got the coach’s award.
