Christiano Ronaldo has now scored forty league goals after a thunderous double against Athletico Madrid. Madrid`s portugese number seven unleashed an unstoppable free kick to open the scoring. Athletico`s keeper, Coutois, looked bemused as Ronaldo`s shot changed direction in the air and sailed past him into the net.

Real Madrid`s nerves were jangling again when Falcao powered in a header to equalise soon after. Cometh the hour, cometh the man and it was Ronaldo again who sent Real back on the road to victory with a solo effort from way outside the penalty area. It was a similiar strike to the first, curling one way then the other and also dipping furiously to confound the keeper again.

Posted on March 05, 2012 by admin

Michel Platini watched the demolition of Espanyol at the Bernabeu, yesterday, and was full of praise for the club afterwards. He said “at 2-0 I think the game was finished. Real Madrid has a very good midfield and is at a high level. The defense has been very serious and it has a classy attack.”
On the La Liga title, he said “this year I think that Real Madrid are more likely than Barcelona,” and also that “ten points are alot for Real Madrid to gain the title but the team most deserving will win, just as the strongest team will win the champion`s league.
Platini also stated that a Real Madrid vs. Barcelona champions league final would be “a good end” and “a good match.” He went on “They are very difficult games and the best team in Europe will win because it is a very tough competition. Games begin in September and end in May so the tem that wins will be the best.Since the beginning of the champion`s league, no team has triumphed in consecutive years so it is proven to be a very tough competition.”
On Real Madrid`s history he said “Real Madrid invented the modern game, won five consecutive European cups and is the best club in the world. It`s a myth, an ideology…. it`s magic.” I couldn`t put it better myself. Tomorrow the best club in the world will be 110 years old. Feliz cumpleanos.
Platini met today with the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation and praised Spain on it`s drug policy, trying to calm the Spanish/French recent bad feeling.

Mourinho – Winning La Liga with Real Madrid is far more important than the Champions League 0

Posted on February 21, 2012 by admin

The Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho believes that winning La Liga from their great rivals Barcelona will be much more satisfying than winning the Champions League this season.

He explained his reasoning as: “For me, the league, in its conception, is so important because the best team always wins it,”

“In the Champions League, the team that wins is not always the best.

“When you win the league, it’s very good for a coach’s self-esteem, because he knows he has done well throughout the year.”

Cristiano Ronaldo will have mixed feelings at the Luzhniki stadium tomorrow 0

Posted on February 20, 2012 by admin

The Luzhniki stadium in Moscow was the scene of the Portugese star Ronaldo’s greatest acheivement and of a personal low point he will never forget.

In May 2008, Christiano and his teammates at Manchester United lifted the Champions League trophy after beating Chelsea on penalties in the final. Cristiano himself however missed a penalty and United were on the verge of losing until the Chelsea captain John Terry slipped on the point of striking his penalty, letting Manchester United back into the game.

Real Madrid march on 0

Jose Mourinho`s men are racing towards the record books after a stunning 4-2 victory against fourth placed Levante on Sunday.
“Los Blancos” have now amassed 58 points and 75 goals from 22 La Liga matches. With 16 games left, Real are on course to outstrip the current record of 99 points held by Guardiola`s Barcelona team of 2009-10 by a single point.
The current record for goals scored in a season is held by the Madrid team of 1989-90, who were managed by the great John Toshack. At the current rate of accumulation Jose`s Madrid will have scored 129 goals by the end of the season.
With the influential Marcelo and Di Maria getting back to full fitness in training and the team looking unstoppable in the league, Mourinho must be feeling confident.
The champion`s league would round off the season nicely. Vamos!

Barcelona boss admits the title is Real Madrids to lose 0

Posted on February 14, 2012 by admin

The Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has conceded that the only way Barcelona can now win La Liga is if Real Madrid suddenly start losing games, which seems extremely unlikely at the moment!

“It’s obvious that we don’t depend on ourselves, nor on the game against them (Madrid) at the Nou Camp. But we cannot worry about what others are doing,” Zubizarreta said.

“Mathematically it is difficult, but we need to try.

“We have to continue competing, keep the pressure on in the league because if anything happens to Madrid we need to be there to take advantage. But if Madrid are able to continue picking up points as they have been doing they will win the league.”
