Jose Mourinho got the better of Roberto Mancini when Real Madrid and Manchester City met in the Champions league this season, and the Special One could be about to take the Italian’s job in the summer, according to reports. Mourinho still has four years of his contract with the Spanish champions to run, but recently the fans have been voicing their anger as Barcelona have stretched their lead to 11 points.
The “Daily Express” has reported Real Madrid`s desire to sign Robin Van Persie, Arsenal`s star striker. The Dutchman is having his best ever season for the London club, and Real are reportedly willing to offer thirty million euros to prise him awaay from Arsene Wenger`s team.
Another team closely watching Van Persie is big spending Manchester City so competition could be fierce. Madrid are known to be keen on a current Manchester City player, the Argentinian striker “Kun” Aguerro. Diego Maradona`s son-in-law has been out of the side quite a bit with injuries and Mancini`s rotation policy. Their have been rumours of a possible swap with Higuain but it remains to be seen if the players are interested in this.
Since Capello quit the England job this week, the rumour mill is buzzing again. With Harry Redknapp being cleared of charges of tax evasion, he is the man most likly to be offered the job. However, he is happy at Tottenham and may not accept the offer.
Jose Mourinho has been strongly linked to the position but the timing is all wrong. Real are looking good to win La Liga, and have an excellent chance to progress in the champion`s league against CSKA Moscow. Theris, also, a possibility of breaking points and goals records this season and going down in history as the best team ever in the league.
The players at Madrid seem to think that Jose will not leave the club in the summer. He has, in fact, issued plans for the return to training in July, surely a strong indication of his plans. The hints about leaving may be intended to strengthen his hand in contract negotiations, to bait the press or as a response to the protests from some of the Madrid fans.
I cannot see him leaving a successful tenure at the world`s biggest club to manage Tottenham or Arsenal as they do not have the financial clout to compete in the transfer market. Unless Mancini becomes unstable at Manchester City then I do not think Mourinho will be England bound this summer.
