Real Madrid ready for Atletico backlash in Copa Del Rey 0

Posted on February 11, 2014 by admin

Real Madrid are in a great position in the Copa Del Rey. They are 3-0 up from the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu and that would usually be enough to think that a place in the final was just a formality, but that is not the case tonight.

Because the opponents are Atletico Madrid and Ancelotti and his players are expecting a tough night. Not only are Atletico fierce city rivals, but there home crown always makes a trip to the Vicente Calderon a difficult one and they will be especially fired up tonight, as will Diego Simeone and his players.

Real Madrid rocked by 6 month injury to Germany star Khedira 0

It is always a danger during the international break, and it has happened again to Real Madrid. A number of players last season came down with the so-called FIFA virus, including Marcelo and Coentrao at the same time, and it struck again last night.

This time it was the Germany midfielder Sami Khedira who was injured, and it was a bad one. The powerful midfielder lasted just over an hour against Italy in his countries 1-1 draw, and today it has been revealed that he has torn a cruciate ligament in his knee, meaning that Real Madrid will have to do without him for around six months.

Real Madrid face Sociedad with 3 key defenders out!! 0

Posted on November 08, 2013 by admin

With Real Madrid already lying six points behind fierce La Liga rivals Barcelona and five behind city rivals Atletico, it goes without saying that Carlo Ancelotti and his players are walking a fine line. Another early slip up would give the club a huge task to catch up and would put a negative spin on things heading in to the two week international break.

So the news that three key defenders are unavailable this weekend is about as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit. At least tomorrow’s La Liga clash against 7th placed Real Sociedad is at home and the Santiago Bernabeu has been a fortress for a long time, with the only points dropped there this season being the narrow loss to Atletico.

Real Madrid players push panic button on Ancelotti 0

Carlo Ancelotti will be glad to return to the Champions League tomorrow, where he has enjoyed his best result of the season by far, the 6-1 away demolition of the Turkish champions Galatasaray. Madrid have been winning in La Liga, but often not very convincingly, and the derby defeat to Atletico at the weekend was the catalyst fir the players to call a crisis meeting with their boss.

Apparently, Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo were the main speakers, being the club captains and best player. It is reported that Ramos insisted that the coach needs to trust his players more, while the general consensus was that all of them need to work harder individually and collectively.

Real Madrid gifted vital win at Elche with dubious penalty 0

While arguments rage across the Spanish football world, Carlo Ancelotti and his Real Madrid players are just relieved that they came away from this tough night in Alicante with all three points. To be honest, they didn’t really deserve it, and Elche will quite rightly feel aggrieved that they did not record a famous result against the giants of La Liga.

Diego Lopez was once again much busier than he would have liked in the Madrid goal, but it was the away side who took the lead, with a Cristiano Ronaldo free kick at the start of the second half. But Madrid did not make the most of their advantage and press on, and they were punished.

Real Madrid lose Bale but still blow Getafe away [with highlights] 0

Hopefully it was just a precautionary measure on the part of Real Madrid and it’s medical staff, but when the player you have just paid around 100 million euros for has to drop out of the team with an injury problem, it is a serious concern. Gareth Bale did not seem to be suffering any problem during the warm up yesterday, but apparently he felt a twinge in his leg and so was removed from the starting line up to face Getafe.

Galatasaray vs. Real Madrid Champions League Preview 0

Posted on September 17, 2013 by admin

The last time that Real Madrid played Galatasaray in Istanbul, which was in last season’s Champions League quarter-final, they lost 3-2, and that will give the Turkish champions a great confidence boost ahead of tonight’s game. They are a dangerous opponent, certainly especially with the vocal and hostile home crowd in full swing.

Carlo Ancelotti knows he cannot afford to lose this game, and he is still trying to get the new players integrated into the team, while coping with the absence through injury of key players Xabi Alonso, Marcelo and Varane. The defence is really important tonight, so the experience of Pepe and Sergio Ramos could be vital, as could the cover in front of the back four so I expect Sami Khedira to start.

Real Madrid get their La Liga campaign underway this evening when Real Betis come to the Santiago Bernabeu for Carlo Ancelotti’s first competitive game as manager of Los Blancos. Although there are still a few possible transfers being reported in the media, the 54-year old Italian has professed himsrelf to be content with the players that he has got.

Real Madrid fans are expecting a much stronger start to the season than last year, when Mourinho’s team played themselves out of the title race before Christmas. The club has already added some top quality players in key positions, although it is unlikely that Asier Illarramendi will feature as he is regaining his fitness.

Real Madrid transfer news – Benzema, Pepe and Di Maria 0

As the long running saga of Gareth Bale and his transfer to Real Madrid rumbles on, the first game of La Liga is less than a week away. The transfer window is due to close in less than three weeks, and Madrid do not seem to be looking to sign any more players, other than the Welshman from Tottenham, but that may not be the last bit of transfer business the club does.

Real Madrid transfer news – Higuain, Kaka and Pepe 0

Carlo Ancelotti is trying to stamp his authority on to the Real Madrid team, and is working closely with the club president Florentino Perez in order to make sure that he has the players he wants to make that happen. Madrid have already done some good work in this summer transfer window, bringing in Isco, Illaramendi and Carvajal, but Ancelotti needs to consider the players who are already at the club as well.

Three players who were thought to be on their way out of the Bernabeu this summer were the Brazilian midfielder Kaka, the Argentinean striker Gonzalo Higuain and the Portuguese defender Pepe. There are issues to be resolved with all three of this players, for various reasons.
