Jose Mourinho told reporters last week that Real Madrid were `forbidden` from talking about the Athletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao, but many believe that the two clubs are talking in private and Falcao could soon join Mourinho’s team.
Athletico are resigned to losing their star sooner or later and need the money that his transfer will deliver. The Colombian striker’s father revealed that Falcao has always dreamed of playing for Real Madrid, and Mourinho believes that his goals will help the Spanish champions to retain their title from Barcelona.
The man to lose out if this happens will be the French international, Karim Benzema, according to ElMundoDeportivo. The striker has settled well after a shaky start at the Bernabeu and scored 32 goals in all competitions last season.
Benzema and Higuain have been battling for a place and their records are very close, but Benzema is seen as the player who would be easier to sell and Higuain would be more content to be a second striker behind Falcao.
Paris Saint-Germain would love to take Benzema back to France but there may well be a number of clubs challenging for his signature, with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger known to be a long term admirer of his.
Benzema has revealed that Mourinho has worked intensively on the mental side of his game. The striker felt alot of pressure when he moved from Lyon, but has learned to leave it on the sidelines when he steps on to the pitch.
