Will Ancelotti wait for Kondogbia to decide on Real Madrid transfer?

One of the priorities for the new Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is to find a replacement for Michael Essien, who has returned to his parent club Chelsea with Jose Mourinho. With Xabi Alonso now 31-years old and starting to pick up injuries, Madrid need a long term replacement for the deep lying playmaker role, and the young Sevilla star Geoffrey Kondogbia is reportedly near the top of the list.

Ancelotti has a number of candidates, apparently, but most of them look like very problematic targets. Verratti from PSG, Gundogan from Dortmund and Vidal from Juventus are all locked into contracts with their clubs and they are seen as vital players there. Pirlo might be available, but age is working against him, while Paulinho seems to be heading to Tottenham. Madrid are trying to get Gareth Bale from them so do not want to upset them by hijacking the Brazilian midfielder.

Kondogbia is young and has some learning to do, but he has huge potential. Sevilla need the money, so he should be available for less than £15 million. The problem is that he is currently playing for France in the under 20s World Cup and will not discuss his future until France are out, which could be another two weeks. That does not leave Madrid a lot of time to pursue other avenues, so Ancelotti has a big decision to make.
