Will former player Guti get coaching role at Real Madrid?

Posted on September 22, 2012 by admin

Real Madrid Legend Guti has announced his retirement from professional football. The former Madrid man made over 400 appearances for the Spanish Champions before leaving on a free transfer to join Besiktas in the summer of 2010. He was then released in November 2011 and has been without a club ever since and now Guti has decided to call an end to his magnificent career.

Guti told Spanish media outlet Marca.com;

“The decision (to stop playing) has been made. I have received offers but I’ve decided to stop. I can now spend more time with my family. I’m going to train to become a sporting director or a coach and I’d like to train youngsters. I’d really like to coach the Real Madrid youth team. That’s my dream.”

It would be a good move for both Real Madrid and for Guti, should he one day become a coach of the Real Madrid youth team as all the players would be able to learn from one of the Real Madrid legends. The former Spanish International spent almost 25 years at Real Madrid, being a professional with the Spanish club for 15 of those years. In his time there he won 3 Champions League trophies, 5 Spanish League trophies, 4 Spanish Super Cups, 1 UEFA Super Cup and 2 Intercontinental Cups.

His experience combined with his love of the club would set a great example to the youngsters, so will Jose Mourinho take him on board at the Bernabeu?
