Will Real Madrid pay over £50m to Tottenham for Bale?

Jose Mourinho is planning a bid of around £35 million to bring Gareth Bale to Real Madrid. The Wales and Tottenham winger is wanted by the special one to save a season which is in danger of being disastrous. Madrid face a tough double header in the Spanish cup against Valencia starting tonight. If they go out of the Copa Del Rey, the only real chance of a trophy this season is the champions league, because Barcelona have a lead of 18 points in the Primera Liga.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is likely to turn down the offer, however, as he wants over £50 million for the mercurial Bale, according to the Express. He may even get it, because Bale has not played in the champions league this season and so could help Madrid in their campaign. Mourinho and his men face a tough tie against Manchester United, and are desperate to lift a record 10th European cup.

23-year old Bale is keen to join the Spanish champions, but he has nearly four years left on his contract, so the English club can hold out for what they want, even though the clubs signed a partnership agreement in the summer after the sale of Luka Modric.
