Zidane relaxed about his new coaching role at Real Madrid

If Zinedine Zidane canbring even half of his talent as a player into the realm of management, then the Frenchman has a long and glorious career ahead of him, hopefully with Real Madrid. He has been working at the Santiago Bernabeu as the sporting director since 2011, but is now moving into coaching and management.

Zidane understands that his playing career means that there will be a great deal of media attention and expectation around him, but he asserts that he is relaxed and will just get on with learning his role and performing his duties as well as he can.

Zidane said, “I am aware of the fact that being a good football player does not guarantee that you’re going to be a good coach. It could be a help, but no more than that. Therefore I will start from scratch and it does not scare me.”

The new Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti, is really looking forward to working with Zidane, as he is a person he knows well and trusts explicitly. He has already been a big help to the Italian by making the phonecall that persuaded Isco to snub Manchester City and come to Madrid.

He has already worked with Zidane, when the Frenchman was playing in Italy for Juventus. That was right at the start of Ancelotti’s career in management, and there could be few better people for Zidane to learn his trade from. Hopefully, Zidane will one day be occupying the position that his former manager is now.
